I'm Addicted to Freecell
Here's an example of how much time I have on my hands. Last night I won my 1000th Freecell game. You can congratulate me later.

This isn't the 1000th game since I bought this computer. Nor is it the 1000th game since I arrived in Samoa. It's the 1000th game since I upgraded my operating system to Windows 2000 on April 13th of this year.
Why do I like Freecell so much? I don't know exactly. But it is incredibly addictive. I can sit and play and and lose myself for hours.
I think some of the appeal might be the game's nature of creating order out of chaos. Or it could be that it's one of the few things in my life that I'm actually good at.

Actually, I think there are so many people out there similarly addicted who might want to fess up. It's not all about geopolitics and international finance. You have to have some fun somewhere.
ok, i'll wait to hear what they have to say and reserve judgment. as you know, I was addicted at one point as well - sometime during my second year of law school. but it soon gave way to other addictions. that's why the U.S. gov't has called freecell a "gateway" game. it should come with a warning label.
I am disappointed that that thread didn't go farther. I just completed game #31610 a few minutes ago. After having started from the beginning: game #1. I think I can say that I am addicted. At first, I used to play 5 games; the time I drink my cup of coffee. Now I discovered that I can play while listening to radio. Not music but interviews and comments about what's going on in the world. And now I can play 50 games every morning when I am at home. Fortunately, the addiction prevent me from stopping when I have started to play but doesn't make me suffer in any way when I am far from my computer.
Pierre, it sounds like you've got it really bad. I actually still try to function like normal people. Also, I don't play much these days. It mostly something to kill time when I was in Samoa.

'I'm Addicted to Freecell'.
seriously dude, this isn't the kind of stuff that's going to draw many comments. interesting, perhaps. worthy of commentary? that's a stretch. try and weave some news or controversy into your posts - make it the "i'm addicted to freecell" and the "middle east road map only leads to a dead end" post - then you might get some action. Or the "my cats are wacky" and the "u.k. should never give up the pound sterling for the euro" post. give us something to work with...... or, take part of an editorial in the times, post, or something andrew sullivan said, and then write something about it yourself - maybe you can get some conversation going if people come here for more than beauty shots and musings of a modern day robinson crusoe.
cheers.
