Dems Win!

What an amazing night. Democrats have taken the House, have a majority of the governorships in the country and are poised to take the Senate. If Tester can hold on in Montana and Jim Webb survives the inevitable recounts and the media cirucs that Virginia is about to become, this will be an historic victory and a complete repudiation of everything the Bush administration stands for. Finally, the American people get it.

Time to get some sleep. More on this momentous election tomorrow.

J. Says:

Just remember Andrew that the Democrats didn't so much win this as it was handed to them by a Republican party that was so incompetent, so out of touch and morally bankrupt that they gave the people no other choice but to vote for the Democrats.
It is now incumbent on them to govern responsibly and show the Republican party as the bafoons that they are. It is also payback time. They need to go after ever dirty little trick that the Republicans pulled while in power. They need to expose and fully air the enormous amount of corruption and maleficence that became a part of the Republican party fabric. They need to hunt down all those who profited from their orgy of power and when they are found, hang 'em high.
Then in their second day in power...

Andrew Writes:

Nah, you're wrong. They did win. You can argue the reasons all day. But they won. This was a watershed election. Not only did the Dems take the House, the Senate and majority of governships and state legislatures across the country, they did it without losing a single incumbent or a seat previously held by a Democrats. That's pretty startling.

That said, it's time to govern. It's time for oversight and investigations and subpoenas, yes. But if they want to stay in power, they are going to have to govern. They are going to have to lead. They can't just be a positive counterweight to Republican incompetence.
