A Check for Fil
I guess the going rate for accidentally encasing a cat in the walls is 100 bucks. I know this because Jess, the foreman of the contracting crew working on the plumping in my apartment building, came by this morning before 8 o'clock this morning to hand deliver a check for that amount in compensation, I suppose. He told me he has taken a good ribbing down at the shop, which I couldn't care less about. I thanked him and shut the door in his face. Then I looked down at the check and saw that it was made out to "Andrew Heche". I don't know any Andrew Heche. That's certainly not me. I don't even know if I will be able to cash it. It's a perfect representation of the lack of attention to detail and consideration by these plumbers and my apartment complex which still hasn't addressed the issue of the major inconvenience and disturbance of having my place ripped up within a month of moving in.

I'm with you all the way. I've been mentally preparing an email to Victoria Dickerson at the corporate HQ all morning.
One thing I forgot to mention in any of my posts is that the management at the apartments tried to shake me down for an additional deposit. They claimed they made a mistake and should have charged me twice for the pet deposit (fucking pet deposit), but I asked about it several times when I signed the lease and they said only one pet deposit no matter how many pets you have. Crystal clear.
If I was given bad information at the time I moved in, once the lease is signed and money change hands, it's a done deal. You can't bang down my door, or leave a message on my voice mail, which I still have (just in case), and demand more money. Unless, that is, you're part of the jacked up management at the Ballena Village Apartments.
just be happy you're not Anne Heche's brother!

'A Check for Fil'.
Personally, I think you need to have them move you to another apartment at their expense. If you had been there a few years and then the plumbing issues came up, it would be more understanding. However, you just moved in and I have to believe that they knew they needed to do work in your apartment. Therefore, they should have held off on renting the place. If they won't move you, call every day and bitch about how much of an inconvience it is and that you want at least 2-3months rent free. Better yet, get in touch with the President of the company directly. Stop dealing with worker bees. You need to be compensated for all the emotional stress they have put you through and dealing with lower level management is not going to get that accomplished.
